We talk a lot about what to do at a murder mystery party, how to host one, how to book one…on and on and on. But we haven’t talked about what not to do at a murder mystery party and we think it’s about time we do. It’s about to get real.
Here are four things NOT to do at a murder mystery party:
- Touch the actors: We understand that people get very excited during a murder mystery party and we love that but please keep your hands to yourself and refrain from touching the actors.
- Surprise the guests: This is not a strict rule but we don’t recommend surprising guests with a murder mystery party. It’s not really the type of activity to just spring on guests. A lot of people won’t react well with having to play a role and be part of the awesomeness that is a murder mystery party if it’s thrown at them.
- Not being in the moment: It’s annoying when someone is on the phone or off in their own world at any type of party, but it’s ten times more annoying when it’s during a murder mystery party. This isn’t the hokey pokey. People are either all in or they’re all out, no going back and forth. It’s going to be more fun for everyone involved if guests are in the moment.
- Talking about politics or religion: Politics, religion, and other controversial topics are off-limits! We know these topics can get heated and go south extremely fast. They make guests feel uncomfortable and you want everyone to have a great time without things getting too serious. So, just go with the flow and enjoy the evening with friends.
Despite all the don’ts here, we are truly excited to bring murder mystery parties to the Maryland, Virginia, and DC areas. Book an East Coast Murder Mystery party today!
