Attending Your First Murder Mystery Party: What to Expect

You’ve just been invited to your first murder mystery party, but where do you go from there? At East Coast Murder Mystery, we are here to take the mystery out of preparing for your first murder mystery party. We’ve created a list of things to expect so the only thing you’ll be trying to solve is who the murderer is.

Here is everything you need to know before attending and what you should expect:

• The theme: Every murder mystery party is going to have a theme. At East Coast Murder Mystery, we currently offer 3 different themes: a classic, 1920’s, and 1980’s. The best part about these themes is that you get to dress up for them to be fully immersed into the setting. Buy or make a killer costume that will blow everyone away.
• The show: At a murder mystery party, instead of watching a mystery show, you get the chance to be in it. The entire party spends the evening acting out and solving the mystery at hand. You will be chatting with suspects, creating theories as the night unfolds, and ultimately finding the killer. Be sure to bring your A game as you never know what suspicious criminal activities might be going on throughout the night.
• Time frame: Unless you’re Sherlock Holmes, murder mystery parties aren’t a quick event. We aim to have the mystery last approximately two hours. So be prepared for a night full of investigations, laughter, and of course, mystery.
• The most important thing to remember: The most important thing to remember when attending a murder mystery party is to have fun. This night is going to be a night that you will always remember for years to come. Have fun dressing up, acting, and solving the mystery with your friends!
