3 Things You Didn’t Know About Murder Mystery Parties

Many people have some preconceived notions about what goes on during a murder mystery party like the ones we present at East Coast Murder Mystery. However, those ideas might not actually be the case. In fact, this blog post is dedicated to sharing three things you didn’t know about murder mystery parties:

  1. They’re not entirely scripted. Many people believe that since we use specific themes, and the “murder” at the center of the party is planned in advance, that it means the entire party and all its conversations are scripted. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Much of the dialog is improvised based on the location, guests, and other factors. Because of the interaction with the various partygoers, it is impossible to completely script the event ahead of time. This is what makes one of our parties truly exciting and one-of-a-kind!
  2. The host of the party is just as welcome to play along as the guests. When we work with a host to hold an event, we do not tell the host who the victim or culprit is before the game. This means that even as the host, you are welcome (and encouraged) to participate and have as much fun as everyone else at your party. It’s as much about you as it is your guests. We want everyone to have a blast.
  3. Guests don’t find it silly. While it’s certainly possible that one or two of your guests might be “too cool” to play along, the truth is, at parties, guests love to interact with others and work together. The number one reason is that games like these are guaranteed to bring out the competitive side in your party guests. Once they see that others are into it, even the “too cool” crowd will soon want to join in on the party.

We hope that we’ve been able to dispel some of the common myths about murder mystery parties. To get a quote or schedule your next event, contact us at East Coast Murder Mystery and be sure to bring some fun!
